Guest Speaker: Mr. Grady
Today we had our first guest speaker of the year! Payton's dad, Mr. Grady, came in this afternoon to discuss with the students his job as a firefighter. With National Fire Safety week last week and our second Fire Drill tomorrow, timing was perfect! Mr. Grady is embarking on his 26th year as firefighter with the Rockford Fire Department. He spoke with the students about the ins and the outs of his job, his passion for the job and all the duties being a firefighter entails, and about the importance of fire safety. The students were engaged and in awe with all of the equipment he brought in to show them and the videos he put together. The videos showed what it is like to be a firefighter at the station and on the road in their vehicles. They were able to watch a tour through his firehouse "home", his fire truck, Ladder 5, and an ambulance from the Rockford Fire Department.
